1. I am interested in collecting fine art. I know what I like, but I have no real background or knowledge about current artists or collecting art.
The Eclectic Gallery and the Collectors Circle members program offer literature, exhibits, seminars and other informational resources that are structured to assist our clients with the nformation and knowledge required to help you make informed art purchases.

2. I have purchased artwork in the past and have since changed my preferences in style and media. How do I sell the artwork I now own to upgrade my collection?
There are many ways to liquidate your existing artwork or collection:
    a. Call a reputable art dealer to appraise the work’s current market value. (There may be a charge for this service)

    b. Art dealers, and galleries may buy your artwork outright or may offer to place the art in their gallery for sale on a consignment basis. (Dealers may charge commissions up to 50% for handling the sale)

    c. Artwork can also be sold through the classified section of newspapers, trade publications, magazines, or online. (This method may require personal showings of the art, photographs and/or artwork may need to be sent to the prospective buyer.)

    d. You may donate the artwork to a nonprofit organization and receive a tax write-off for the value. (Talk to your attorney or accountant for details)

    e. Some dealers and galleries may offer to trade artwork against the purchase price of another item.

    f. At Eclectic Galleries we feature the Collectors Circle restocking option for works purchased through our gallery 10% restocking fee is charged for this service. The restocking option assures Collector Circle buyers that their artwork will retain its original purchase value.

3. How do I know if the artwork that I have purchased is an original or a forgery?
There is no guaranteed method to determine the authenticity of original artwork or limited edition graphics. However there are several precautions that you can take when buying fine artwork.
    a. Only buy artwork that you like. Not for its investment value.

    b. Buy from a reputable dealer or art gallery. (If the deal is too good to be true, it probably is.)

    c. Request a provenance (history) of the artwork. (Auction records, a receipt for proof of sale and proof of origin.)

    d. Many fine art prints have a Certificate of Authenticity that is signed by the publisher or gallery.

4. I am not comfortable buying artwork online. How can I be sure that I will be satisfied with the original art when I receive it?
    a. Most reputable online galleries have a satisfaction guarantee policy for all online purchases.

    b. Eclectic Galleries and the Collector Circle members program offer a no charge ten day return policy on all art sales. (Don’t forget the restocking option.)
