"A Unique Gallery Experience"
Bob & Sheila Keller
"Collecting fine art has always been our passion but, Sheila and I found that many Brick & Mortar Art Galleries didn't provide the information, selection, pricing, and unique gallery experience that we sought when shopping for art to include in our personal collection. So, we decided to create our own."

Searching for Inspiration in Europe
We began our quest for the perfect model for our Gallery in the late 1990s with an art buying trip to Europe that would include London and Paris. We visited the major street markets, art fairs, large and small galleries, museums, etc. But, what we enjoyed most were the small "working galleries" that house masterpieces alongside some dusty old works of art, hand crafted frames, damaged paintings, restored masterpieces, works in progress, paintings everywhere, hanging, lined up against the walls, it was glorious!

The Working Gallery Experience
This is what a real gallery feels like; gutsy, hands-on, inspirational, and provocative...a place to find museum quality art treasures that you like and can afford. A place that inspires respect, with knowledgeable and experienced crafts persons and art dealers who share stories that are worth as much as the art and artists that they represent...
The trip also included visits to artist studios and locations where some of our favorite 19th century artists painted and struggled i.e. Monet's Giverny,... Van Gogh's gravesite,... Cezanne's studio in Aix en Provence,...Picasso's atelier on Rue Lepic on Montmartre... The "Working Gallery Experience" would become the model for our Pittsburgh Gallery.

We Studied Major U.S. Markets
"We continued our quest for the perfect art gallery experience by visiting many of the finest US galleries in New York, Chicago, Miami, Carmel, La Jolla, Atlanta, and many others. The contrast was striking but, we needed to study and adapt the useful realities of state-of-the-industry American art galleries. As a result, we decided to expand our mix to include contemporary paintings and object d' arte as part of our eclectic mix of art styles and movements.
To that end, we began to interview living contemporary artists worldwide that we felt met our requirement for "The Best Art and Object d' Arte on Planet Earth" and we adopted the name "Eclectic Art & Objects Gallery"...
Eclectic Art & Objects Gallery is the result of our vision to create the ultimate gallery experience that is realized through our substantial investment in a diverse collection of contemporary and 19th century works of art and our desire to make them accessible and affordable to those who appreciate and wish to own their own fine art masterpieces.

Many of the paintings housed in the Eclectic Art Gallery collections are centuries old and may have been stowed away in an attic, or barn loft after one of the world wars while others were sold off the walls of an old castle or French chateau, while others may have been found in art fairs, estate sales, street markets, or from a little art gallery in Bermondsey Square on Tower Bridge Road in London or the famous market...“Le Marché aux Puces de Saint Ouen” (Porte de Clignancourt Paris). But, regardless of their provenance, they are all masterpieces that need to be saved, respected, and given a place of honor as part of our cultural legacy!
