Hans Mathias Dall (1862-1920) is a listed artist, well-known for his beautiful
landscapes often with a horizon and a farm or a group of trees to break
the line. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (1880-89) and travelled
to Germany, France and Italy to paint between 1886-1921.
Dall received several prizes for his paintings including Soedring's Prize
in 1890 and Ancker's prize in 1914. His paintings were also exhibited
at Foreningen for Natianal Kunst, at Charlottenborg in Copenhagen, Glaspalast
in Munich in 1913, and in many other one man shows and international exhibitions.
Hans Dall was an invited artist at the Columbian World Exhibition in Chicago
in 1893 along with Bertha Wegmann, Hans Agersnap, Johannas Brandt and
other prominent Danish artists of that time. His paintings are included
in museums in Aarhus, Maribo, Ribe, Randers and Kolding.
A painting by Dall was sold at Dorotheum in Vienna on 13 September 1989
for $2,549.00. The painting "Lunch in the Garden" dated 1916 was offered
for $10,000.00-$15,000.00 at Sotheby's London on 24 June 1998.
