Art has always had a dominant place in his life and this natural talent means that from the early age of sixteen he paid for many of his world trips by painting and selling his works en route. With no formal art education he has always had to rely on the public at large to be his severest critic. Following his marriage to aquarellist Tatjana in 1987 painting moved from a paying hobby to a full professional status, and since that time he has successfully sold his works to eager buyers throughout the world. He is also an expert photographer and totally computer literate.
Virtually all of his paintings are figurative and involve people enjoying leisure activities. They are relaxed and invite the viewer to be part of the scene, his style being a happy mixture of realism and impressionism. Lepetit possess a direct and fluent style, using thick creamy paint to depict scenes of the north-western Mediterranean coastline, as well as locations further inland. His compositions entice by their delightful use of sparkling color. Henri

Born
in Brussels in 1956 Henri Lepetit is almost larger then life, an Indiana
Jones character who seems to have done everything, from bagging spitting
cobras in the Ivory Coast when he was only thirteen years old, to fighting
for "C" Squadron of the S.A.S! With skydiving an ongoing hobby he has
been a world adventurer who has extracted every possible emotion from
his incredibly varied lifestyle.
Lepetit's
current paintings in effect form a spontaneous visual diary. They are
gutsy, bold, and positive. He paints with flair and without hesitation.
He knows exactly where he is going and exactly how he is going to achieve
the end result.
