Long Looie Lee is deeply religious and a follower of Tao, a way of life, and Zen or cosmic influences. His Serigraphs, which he prints himself, are 25 – 30 colors and are hand adorned with a pencil sketch around the image.

“Artists paint with spirituality; without spirituality there is no soul in painting.” His interpretation is reflected in his paintings.” He often shows figures with an open mouth, which symbolizes LIFE forces — breathing in fresh air.

Although Long Looie was born in Kedah, Malaysia, he has resided in the United States for the past 30 years. In 1969 Long Looie won a scholarship for the Arts Student League in New York City. He also studied printmaking techniques at the Pratt Graphics Center in New York. His oils and water colors, are influenced by works of Klee, Franz Kline, Picasso, Modigliani, Gaugin, Miro and Matisse.

“Where does my art come from? Where am I going?” Affected by nature and the environment, he feels his art is a spontaneous reaction to nature.” I am at peace with nature and in harmony with the universe. There is sensitivity to cosmic influences spiders are attracted to me. Flowers say hello to me. That is why I prefer to paint alone.”
