"JAMES
SULKOWSKI HAS DEVELOPED INTO ONE OF THE GREAT ARTISTS OF AMERICA. WE ARE
FOREVER HIS STRONG SUPPORTERS"
O.Aldon James,Jr.,President of The National Arts Club;NYC,NY
JAMES SULKOWSKI is a classical artist in the tradition
of the Masters. His adherence to Old Master concepts and techniques gives
his work both timeless and luminous qualities. He grinds his own paints
from dry pigments combined with hand-prepared oils and varnishes. His
panels and canvases are of the highest quality.
His dramatic effects of light and use of deep, rich color have attracted
private, corporate and public collectors worldwide including former President
and Mrs George Bush, the Saudi Arabian Royal Family and the Metropolitan
Opera of New York.
James studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia,
at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh and most notably at the Art
Students League of New York with Frank Mason and Robert Beverly Hale.
James has exhibited nationally for over 25 years and is currently represented
by Sulkowski Fine Art Gallery in Canonsburg,PA, Godwin-Lundquist Fine
Art in Great Barrington,Mass., J & W Gallery in New Hope,PA and Dassin
Gallery in Los Angeles,CA.
He has appeared in and written articles for several national magazines
including AMERICAN ARTIST, AMERICAN ART REVIEW, US ART, AMERICA’S CIVIL
WAR AND ART & ANTIQUES. M. Stephen Doherty, Editor-in-Chief of American
Artist Magazine has said of Mr Sulkowski, “I've always admired his work.
He’s considered to be an outstanding artist and also a terrific teacher.”
James' work has been published by NORTH LIGHT BOOKS in THE BEST OF FLOWER
PAINTING 1 & 2. Among his many awards is the Helen DeCozen Award for
Best Floral Painting.
James feels that teaching is an integral part of his artistic life. He
loves to share whatever knowledge he has of the ”nuts and bolts” as well
as the joy of painting in his National Workshops.
During the past several years Mr. Sulkowski has donated his time and talent
to benefit the American Cancer Society with the sales of his limited edition
prints and Holiday greeting cards
He is also listed in the 27th edition of WHO'S WHO IN AMERICAN ART 2007-2008
.
