-Don’t hang artwork
over a fireplace that is not properly vented and insulated
-Don’t hang artwork on a damp/cold exterior walls
-Don’t store artwork in damp, cold or hot areas such as basements,
attics, or unheated storage units
-Don’t hang artwork in direct sunlight
-Don’t use anything accept a dry duster to clean a painting
(professional surface cleaning agents are used to clean
dirt and discolored varnish on oils)
-Don’t hang paper art (prints and watercolors) in steamy bathrooms
-Use only acid free materials to mat or back artwork
-Use only UV conservation glass to protect valuable watercolors
and prints
-Use A/C in summer and moist heat in winter months
Discolored varnish, torn canvas, flaking paint and other damage
to paintings can be repaired.
Sometimes a repair is as simple as cleaning the painting with

the canvas, repairing a tear, inpainting etc. Eclectic Art
